Guardian Council
The Guardian Council is the most vital part to governing Iran, for they select the Supreme Leader. They consist of mostly people who have superb knowledge in Islam and the laws of the Qur’an, they do not have an ordinary education, and instead they have a religious education. In theory they have the power to remove the current supreme leader from his seat of power or speak out against him. They’re the highest authority of Iran, and are capable of controlling the Supreme Leader to do their bidding. The members of the Guardian Council are voted for by the population above 18. The people who are selected are often times of important families within Islam. The Guardian Council however works alongside the Parliament. Therefore there is another council known as the Expediency Council that resolves any disputes between the parliament and Guardian Council.
